鄧鏡波胖神父
人生旅程，遇到不少貴人，實在不敢有忘。一九六七至六八年間，我在鄧鏡波中學念中二年級，家境情況貧困，母親不能負擔學費(香港九年免費教育，始於一九七六)，只好到教務處去退學。剛好一個神父在那裏，他問起母親退學的緣由，又拿出了我的記錄查看。他對母親講，妳的兒子並不是甚麼優秀學生，但差不多科科合格，而且成績有進步，就這樣吧，你暫不用支付學費，等找到工作才算吧！如此這般我可以繼續上學。沒有這位肥肥胖胖的神父，人生旅程可能不知轉向何方。以後每念及此，總有淚光。神父與牧師之間，神父付出的可較多！

Hong Kong Tang Kim Po College, 25 Kennedy Road, Wanchai; Operated by the Catholic Salesians of Don Bosco. ~ 1967-68, social unrest and riots disturbed the lives of everyone. Home-made bombs hurting people shadowed all citizens. My cousin sister asked us to live in a place she rented in Kennedy Road. She also asked the College administrator to accept (kind of special favor) me into that famous school. Anyway, my character did not like this kind of ‘favor’ and so decided to leave the College after one year when the riots died down, despite I was eligible to be promoted to Form 3. In Kung Lee College, the new place I picked myself, unexpectedly I met CHAN YAN CHEONG who was in the same class in Tang Kim Po. Now and then mother cleared the tuition debts to Tang Kim Po.
鄧鏡波英文書院，位於灣仔堅尼地道，天主教慈幼會學校。1967至68年間，香港的社會非常動亂和緊張，基本上影響了香港每一個人的生活。那時候鬧市之中常有土製炸彈傷人的事情，我的表姐便叫我們到她堅尼地道所租的房舍居住，以策安全，也介紹我到鄧鏡波讀書。不過我的性格並不喜愛「介紹」這回「東西」。一年之後，暴亂平息，我雖然可以升上中三，依然選擇離開有名氣的鄧鏡波，轉到藉藉無名的公理書院。其後母親我找到工作，亦付清所欠學費。在公理，我竟然遇到同班同學陳忍昌！
